The Hajj Village project, spearheaded by GACL, forms part of efforts to improve the organisation of pilgrimage operations in the country while also creating additional non-aeronautical revenue streams for the company. In February 2025, President John Dramani Mahama cut the sod for the construction of a permanent Hajj Village in Accra, aimed at improving the experience of Ghanaian Muslim pilgrims. Progress on Hajj Village at Kotoka International Airport steadily advancesAbijah emphasised that the facility would serve as a multipurpose village with recreational spaces designed to help generate revenue for GACL and the wider economy. The residential building is 60% complete, the terminal building is 55% complete, the mosque is 50% complete, and all other structures are at an average of 50% completion.
