A controversial application to build 80 homes in Datchet has been approved by the Royal Borough – despite concerns and calls for refusal being made. The application by Hawridge Strategic Land Ltd also includes associated access, landscaping, open space and other infrastructure. The lively meeting, saw speakers and councillors highlight both positive points and concerns – including speeding and fears of generating more traffic on a road which has seen 'a number of fatalities'. Earlier in the meeting Cllr David Buckley (TBFI, Datchet, Horton and Wraysbury), speaking on behalf of Datchet Parish Council, said the application should be rejected for failing to meet a number of policy issues. Representing the applicant Matt Harris, a planner at Nexus Planning, said earlier in the meeting that the proposal provides ‘significant benefits’, complies with the Borough Local Plan, including the site allocation requirements and the Datchet Neighbourhood Plan.
