Provincial firefighters are mopping up the wildfires near Predator Ridge and Peachland B.C., with the help of cooler winds and a bit of rain. Wildfire officials say the cooler weather is helping to calm several fires in the province, including the Kokanee Road or Predator Ridge fire, which is now considered contained and holding at six hectares. Overnight three workers worked with the Vernon Fire department to keep the six-hectare "smouldering ground fire" in check. Sunday a crew of 20 firefighters will be falling danger trees and applying water to hotspots. Further down Okanagan lake, south near Kelowna, the Peachland fire near Antler Beach is also contained at 0.3 hectares.
