A lorry driver entered a guilty plea to a charge of careless driving causing the death of a woman in Charleville almost three years ago. 43-year-old Damien Mulvey, of Avondale, Knockbarry, Buttevant, Co Cork, was arraigned at Cork Circuit Criminal Court on the single charge of careless driving causing death. He pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that his driving at Main Street, Rathgoggin Middle, Charleville, Co Cork, on the afternoon of May 15, 2023, was careless in that he drove without due care and attention, causing the death of pensioner Margaret Lyons. The family of the deceased were present in court when Mr Mulvey pleaded guilty to this charge. Judge Helen Boyle also addressed the family of the deceased in court, saying that she would like to express sincere condolences to them.
