Cornflakes, cats and grizzly bearsReaders are no doubt aware that the official codename for the current US action in the Middle East is Operation Epic Fury which admittedly sounds more like the title of a martial arts B movie. Israel incidentally has its own name for the current mission, Operation Roaring Lion. The names given to such missions usually have a strong sense of spirit-raising symbolism although some might say that the word "fury" suggests a certain lack of control. Less well-known was Operation Grizzly Forced Entry, a 2004 counter-insurgency raid in Iraq, implying the US troops had the aggression of a grizzly bear. Some names given to operations have raised a few eyebrows.
