Universities continued to require students infected with the coronavirus to isolate, in some cases just days into the fall semester. The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill on Sunday reported its fourth “cluster” of cases — at least five infections in proximity. ADADEarly in the pandemic, school closures and other public health measures may have contributed to low rates of coronavirus infections in children, according to the CDC. In his own interview on “Face the Nation,” Gottlieb said the new virus has not been as prevalent in children. By comparison, he said the flu causes about 11 million symptomatic illnesses in children each year and roughly 400 deaths.
