Only financial regulators, equipped with the necessary data intelligence, can develop standardized and consistent frameworks for classifying physical and transition risks, exposures and the impacts of financial sector climate-alignment efforts. The case of hydrogen produced by the renewable energy-powered electrolysis of water — green hydrogen (GH2) — is a useful one. Fortunately, with the data intelligence made possible by the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), the means to resolve them exists. Here, too, data intelligence can help. But like any good vaccine, the viability of green hydrogen as a climate crisis solution has only been proven in controlled "trials."
