Council look to approve plans for former bank in Penarth

An application has been submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council for the change of use of the building, located at 1 Herbert Terrace, from A2 class to A3, with plans for an extension and remodelling of the current layout. The proposals include creating a ground floor terrace area facing Herbert Terrace and Stanwell Road, bordered with a raised planter containing low-growing box hedging. The terrace would also feature large terracotta pots planted with low-growing palms, tree ferns, and strelitzia reginae shrubs. The Penarth property, which formerly housed an HSBC branch, will also have exterior zinc cladding, and man-made slate roofing, with powder-coated aluminium windows and doors, should the proposal proceed. It also includes amendments to three self-contained upper floor apartments, with the work including new stair access and external terraces.
