Council of Governors Fault Senate for Impeaching Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi ▷ Kenya News


The Council of Governors (CoG) has condemned the ouster of Wajir governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud, whose impeachment by the county assembly, was upheld by the Senate on Monday, May 17. Council of Governors chairman Martin Wambora has faulted Senate for impeaching Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi. "Failure to follow the provisions of Assumptions of office of a Governor Act resulting in a hurried swearing-in of deputy governor. For example, in the Kirinyaga case, the Senate acquitted the governor, charged with similar violations," he explained. The county assembly accused Mohamud of gross misconduct, abuse of office, corruption and other related charges.
