Another Scarborough city councillor is hearing the siren call of Queen’s Park. Councillor Chin Lee (Ward 41, Scarborough—Rouge River) has been nominated for Premier Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals to run in the redrawn riding of Scarborough North next spring. “I am excited to be joining Premier Wynne’s team and am ready to continue to serve my constituents at Queen’s Park,” he told 150 supporters on Monday night. Lee, a longtime Liberal, has been a city councillor since 2006 when he succeeded Bas Balkissoon, who left for provincial politics. The riding, now known as Scarborough—Rouge River, is held by Progressive Conservative Raymond Cho, who was also a Toronto city councillor before winning a September 2016 byelection to replace the Liberal Balkissoon, who retired.
