With the return of Test cricket, there was something last week to cater for all tastes: international, county and amateur. The Scorer was at Arundel on Saturday to watch Sir Tim Rice’s Heartaches take on The Authors in a declaration match. Beautifully manicured, flat as anything and attracting the gaze of tens of spectators…but enough about my hair, the ground was gorgeous too. Marnus Labuschagne finally found some form but Pieter Malan, having turned up in county cricket with more than 10,000 runs at an average above 44, was out for ducks No 16 and 17, the first pair of his first-class career.
