Court adjourns charge against Tamim Dahri to May 15 as accused is in Riyadh


PETALING JAYA: The Magistrate's Court in Langkawi, Kedah has adjourned the hearing to charge activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak until May 15 after the accused was found to be in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In the proceedings at the Magistrate's Court, Tamin Dahri, who was scheduled to be charged on Tuesday (March 17), left the country via Bukit Kayu Hitam to Thailand on March 9. The accused travelled to Saudi Arabia via Bangkok International Airport, Thailand but the prosecution told the court it cannot be confirmed whether he was using a tourist visa or an umrah visa. Apart from Zamri Vinoth and Arun Dorasamy, the other two who will be charged are Tamim Dahri and P. Mahendra Boopathy. Tamim Dahri will be charged in the Langkawi Court under Section 295 of the Penal Code for allegedly damaging a soolam object, a sacred symbol for Hindus at the old site of the Sri Maha Muniswarar Temple in Langkawi, Kedah.
