Court ejects woman for photos of security law case

A woman was ejected from a court room after she photographed proceedings when the High Court was hearing a habeas corpus writ involving the first person charged under the new National Security Law, RTHK reports. The woman was observing the proceedings through a screen relaying the hearing to a nearby room as the court was packed to hear arguments in the politically sensitive case. When hauled before the court before the lunch break, the woman said she was sending pictures to her boyfriend to prove that she was there. The woman assured the court that she would delete the pictures and ask her boyfriend also to do the same. Lawyers for Tong Ying-kit are seeking his release after he was arrested on July 1, the day the new national security law came into effect.
