Court nullifies Benue NUJ election, orders arrest of President, others


The National Industrial Court sitting in Makurdi Division, Benue State capital has directed the State Commissioner of Police, Madaki Audu to effect the arrest of the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chris Isiguzo, National Secretary, Leman Shuaib and the Vice president Zone D, Mr Wilson Bako over contempt of court. The respondents are; the national president of NUJ, national secretary, Vice President, Zone D, Chairman of credential committee, secretary of the credential committee and the state acting chairman of NUJ. Following this, the industrial court restrained the national Secretariat from conducting the election scheduled for July, 3rd, 2021 and was flouted. The learned Counsel also prayed the court to exempt the acting chairman, Kajo Martins from committal to prison.
