Philippe Coutinho started his Barcelona career on the bench on Thursday for the Copa del Rey quarter-final second leg tie against city neighbours Espanyol at Camp Nou. The 25-year-old Brazilian, signed for 160 million euros ($194 million) from Liverpool, had seen his debut delayed due to a thigh injury. Barcelona are looking to overturn a 1-0 defeat by Espanyol in the first leg. Coach Ernesto Valverde named captain Andres Iniesta, back from injury, in the starting line up. Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina, signed from Brazilian side Palmeiras for 11.8 million euros ($14 million), joins Coutinho on the bench.
