A group of longtime businesses on Brooklyn’s Coney Island boardwalk say they barely survived the summer as they struggled to keep up with recent rent increases while serving far fewer customers because of the new coronavirus pandemic. “We’re not making any money this season—and whatever we’ve been making has been pretty much going to the landlord,” said Michael Sorrell, co-owner of Ruby’s Bar & Grill, a boardwalk fixture since 1934.
