Covid-19: Tangier-Portimão Maritime Line Canceled After Surge of Delta Variant in Portugal


The maritime line between the ports of Portimão (Portugal) and Tangier (Morocco), which was scheduled to start service July 1st, has been cancelled after a spike in the cases of the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus in Portugal. Moroccan authorities have called lately for vigilance and compliance with precautionary measures against covid-19, including social distancing, hand-washing and face-mask wearing in addition to the ongoing vaccination campaign. More than 9.1 million people have been fully vaccinated in Morocco against coronavirus, while over 10 million have received their first dose of a vaccine. The North African Kingdom has reported 532,150 confirmed cases of covid-19 cases, 518 101 recoveries and 9,298 deaths. However, all inbound travelers should show a negative PCR test before entering the country.
