Lucy Moreton, of the Immigration Services Union, which represents frontline border staff, said her members were reporting between five and ten migrants a day testing positive. Even on busier days for Channel crossings that would mean about 3 per cent of arrivals testing positive; the rate in the UK population is 0.16 per cent, equivalent to one in 630 people.
