With a track record for developing groundbreaking technology and a new start-up currently being piloted, the originator of Apple's Touch ID technology is poised to make headlines again. Multinational technology giant Apple acquired the company for $356 million in cash in 2012. It was AuthenTec’s fingerprint technology, or Touch ID technology, that started in the iPhone 5s and has been a feature of every iPhone and iPad since. There are approximately 46 million seniors living in the U.S. today and some 1.4 million live in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Its technologies are now the foundation for Apple’s Touch ID.
