Former Manchester United star Alex Telles opened the scoring for Al-Nassr in the 43rd minute with a sensational volley from 25 yards out after a corner was cleared into his direction. Ex-Inter Milan playmaker Marcelo Brozovic then doubled his side’s lead from close range when directing his volley into the far corner after a headed pass from Ronaldo, before the Portuguese international put the icing on the cake from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute. Al-Ettifaq’s Mohammed Al Kuwaykibi scored a late consolation goal but ultimately Gerrard’s side never looked likely to bounce back to winning ways in another underwhelming performance. The Saudi side welcomed several top-quality stars to their squad during the latter stages of the transfer window, though the standards of their signings do not hold up against their rivals.
