Steven Gerrard has called for Al-Ettifaq to splash the cash in the January transfer window after Cristiano Ronaldo piled the misery on the Liverpool legend. Former Manchester United star Alex Telles opened the scoring for Al-Nassr in the 43rd minute with a sensational volley from 25 yards out after a corner was cleared into his direction. Ex-Inter Milan playmaker Marcelo Brozovic then doubled his side’s lead from close range when directing his volley into the far corner after a headed pass from Ronaldo, before the Portuguese international put the icing on the cake from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute. Al-Ettifaq’s Mohammed Al Kuwaykibi scored a late consolation goal but ultimately Gerrard’s side never looked likely to bounce back to winning ways in another underwhelming performance. The Saudi side welcomed several top-quality stars to their squad during the latter stages of the transfer window, though the standards of their signings do not hold up against their rivals.
