Critics zero in on govt virus effort

Doubt was promptly raised after Pheu Thai stalwart Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan vented her frustration at the government's "directionless" handling of the outbreak in the kingdom. Khunying Sudarat, Pheu Thai's chief strategist, lambasted the Prayut Chan-o-cha administration on Facebook by suggesting it had failed to execute decisive measures to control the spread of the deadly virus. In attacking the government, the Pheu Thai chief strategist has found herself prone to counter-attacks for referring to countries which Thailand should look to as an example for having turned a corner in combatting the virus. The Democrat Party -- which is in charge of a number of ministries, including the Commerce Ministry -- has come under heavy criticism over its handling of medical supplies and essential goods. The main opposition Pheu Thai Party, or at least some factions within it, may be approached to join the government, according to a source.
