Crusaders win fourth straight provincial crown

It seem there can’t be a high school hockey championship between St. Paul’s and Sturgeon Heights without a little controversy. The Crusaders were over the moon after winning the school’s fourth straight provincial crown, defeating the Huskies 3-0 in the tournament final. St. Paul’s defenceman Ian Macdonnell didn’t get a penalty on the play, and while Ostermann returned, he wasn’t the same. Jack Kaiser made it 2-0, St. Paul’s, with 7:58 left in the third period, while Lewis added an empty-netter. “They came out guns-a-blazing.”Winning four straight provincial titles, and five of the last six, is unprecedented in the modern era of high school hockey in Manitoba.
