A whip is an official of a political party whose task is to ensure party discipline in a legislature. Local activists, leaders of Awami League were overjoyed to have a whip from the port city for the first time after the Liberation War. He has been elected a lawmaker from Chittagong 12 three times. He also served as the ward councilor of the Chittagong City Corporation in 1987. He is also the Bangladesh chapter president of the Asian Football Association UK and first Vice-President of the Chittagong Football Association.
