Custom officials suspect dog owner who returned to mainland of asking smugglers to send their dogs back for reunions. Custom agents and marine police busted the city's largest sea smuggling case this year on Friday (August 21), seizing HK$37 million worth of goods and 12 dogs with chips embedded in their bodies. Two men were arrested on the speedboat near the Mui Wo Ferry Pier and charged with five counts for illegal immigration, attempting to export unmanifested cargo, failing to stop, cruelty to animals, and endangering the safety of others at sea. 80 cartons of goods were seized on the speedboat, and 122 boxes were found on the shore near Mui Wo Pier. The police are searching for the dogs' owners with the help of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.
