GEORGE TOWN: DAP's Jelutong member of parliament Jeff Ooi has been released on police bail after he was arrested to assist an investigation into his comment on Pas spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din's death. Ooi was arrested when he went to the Penang northeast district police headquarters here to give his statement at 2.45pm. "He was arrested when he came to give his statement and released on police bail after four hours," he told reporters after walking out of the police headquarters about 6.30pm. Earlier, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said Ooi arrived at 2.45pm to have his statement recorded. Mior said the northeast district police had also received several reports against Ooi and have referred the matter to Dang Wangi police.
