Map of Khulna Dhaka TribuneThe suspended police officials allegedly detained a man and demanded Tk10 lakh as ransomSeven members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Khulna were suspended on Monday over an accusation of detaining a man and collecting ransom. The suspended police officials are: Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Lutfar Rahman Nir, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) KM Hasanuzzaman, ASI Sheikh Saidur Rahman, ASI Gazi Sazzadul Islam, Constable Md Kamruzzaman, Constable Md Jamiul Hasan Imon and Constable Md Rubel. He said: "The police men were suspended because of the allegation of illegal money transactions (collecting ransom). They reportedly detained the owner's son after picking him up from there and demanded Tk10 lakh as ransom. The suspended officials were sent to Khulna Police Lines."
