DDCA gets showcause notice by tobacco society

The Delhi government on Monday issued a showcause notice to the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) for allegedly promoting tobacco and pan masala brands in the ongoing cricket test match between India and Sri Lanka. The third test cricket match in the ongoing series between India and Sri Lanka is being played here. "It is further informed that cricket stars also come under the category of celebrity and are role models for the younger generation. Hence, they cannot promote tobacco and pan masala which only leads to disease, disability and death," he said. According to the notice, any wrong communication and promotion on the part of celebrities, especially cricket stars, will have a disastrous impact on the society, including youngsters.
