MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Finance on Tuesday said it is now “finetuning” certain aspects of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program’s “package 2 plus,” which will cover more taxes on tobacco, alcohol, mining, coal and casinos. In terms of further adjustments on excise taxes on tobacco products, which is part of Package 2 Plus, Chua said the DOF will no longer submit a new proposal but would instead support the bill filed by Senator Manny Pacquiao. Another component of Package 2 Plus, the proposal on a comprehensive mining tax, would still require further consultation with the Mining Industry Coordination Council, which "has scheduled its next meeting two weeks from now."
