Share TweetBy Freddie LazaroSAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released a total of P138 million for livelihood and emergency employment for 27,781 marginalized workers in Region 1 last year. Taken from the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), the assistance aims to transform the marginalized workers into “poverty warriors” either by engaging them in self-employment endeavors or making their existing small businesses grow into sustainable enterprises. Pangasinan had its share as follows: Western–P2,973,861 for 591 beneficiaries; Central –P17,115,095 for 4,849 workers and Eastern – P21,824,759.85 for 3,897 beneficiaries. The DILEEP is aligned with the government’s agenda of poverty reduction through the creation of sustainable enterprises or provision of emergency employment.
