Paulo Eduardo Scravonatto was arrested after his father suspected he murdered Joana Fabris Deon, 19, in the Brazilian city of Bento Goncalves. The young man claimed Joana was shot by street thugs, after she stood up against them when they tried to take her belongings. The officers then questioned the suspect again, who then allegedly changed the story and claimed that he accidentally shot the victim.
