Dale Earnhardt Jr. will retire at the conclusion of the 2017 Nascar season, according to his team, Hendrick Motorsports. Earnhardt will retire with an estimated $410 million in earnings from salary, endorsements, and his share of licensing and race winnings during his nearly two decades on the track. Earnhardt earned $20 million to $25 million annually during the mid-2000s with the highest merchandise sales and endorsement income in the sport. The missed time dinged his race winnings and allowed Jimmie Johnson to just edge out Earnhardt in 2016 earnings with $21.8 million versus $21.1 million. Assuming he stays healthy during 2017, Earnhardt will likely bank another $25 million, bringing his career earnings to $410 million.
