BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker announced today that he will present his final episode of BBC’s Football Focus on Saturday 22 May, on the last weekend of the Premier League season. The presenter will be stepping down after 12 years in the role and BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas has been tipped to replace him. Jermaine is just 2/1 to become Football Focus’ next presenter while Strictly Come Dancing’s Alex Scott is close behind at 3/1. After the BBC Breakfast host announced the news on Twitter, Piers wrote: “I start Saturday.” Explaining his decision, Dan said: “I have some news, this is going to be my last season presenting Football Focus. I really hope you enjoy the rest of the season and I’ll see you soon.” Football Focus fans rushed to support Dan as one tweeted: “Well that is sad news, you’re easily one of the best out there and like you say, football focus is an institution.
