VANCOUVER—A Vancouver businessman and philanthropist caught in a U.S. college-admissions scam appeared in a Boston court Friday and pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. David Sidoo, a former CFL player turned businessman, was arrested by U.S. authorities in San Jose, California on March 8. David Sidoo has pleaded guilty and been released on a $1.5-million bond in the U.S. college-admission investigation, and plans to return home to Vancouver. “He looks forward to fully contesting the charges in a well-respected court and not in the media,” read a statement released on Friday from Sidoo’s lawyers. Sidoo was released on a $1.5-million bond and planned to return home to Canada, according to his lawyers.
