David Vass reviews The Hound of the Baskervilles by the Harleston Players

The Muppet Christmas Carol would be a fair yardstick to measure it by. In the hands of the Harleston Players, what is most immediately apparent is the gender blind casting. There were performances of The Hound of the Baskervilles at Harleston Sancroft Academy in January. Sara Curtis is very well cast as Sherlock, exuding just the right disdain for lesser mortals while wearing increasingly ludicrous disguises. Director David Cummings moved his actors and stage hands around deftly, but he should have been more ruthless with the text.
