The ex-Barcelona star had been playing for Japanese side Vissel Kobe since the start of the year, but has now announced he will be walking away from the sport. In a press conference, Villa confirmed he had chosen to retire at the end of the season, with the J-League still having three games remaining. Villa enjoyed a terrific professional career spanning 19 years, in which time he played in Spain, Australia, Japan and America. The Spaniard scored 376 goals in 752 games across his club career, as well as a hefty return on the international stage.
