Dear Dáithí: Should we attend or ignore a 'non-communion party'?

We could attend against our better judgement, or we could talk to our grandson and see if he would opt to have a real communion day. I’m with you on this one: you’re not doing your communion so you’re not getting a party. There is a party and you should definitely go to the party. That to me is enough of a reason any day of the week, but by not going, what will you achieve? So go to the party and celebrate that beautiful grandson of yours and what a well-behaved and smart boy he is!
