The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, has said competitions, such as debate, quiz, spelling bee and other activities will improve the communication and research skills of students. Also speaking, National Coordinator, President’s School Debate Nigeria, Mr Dare Oritu, said, “We have quite a small number of participating states in this year’s championship. This was due to some state governments who insisted that their State Ministries of Education will oversee junior secondary school matters, which before now was the responsibility of the SUBEBs. In spite of the limited number of participating states in this year’s championship, I am very optimistic that we shall have a successful and hitch-free championship.”Copyright PUNCH.
