Pearse Flynn, a Cork tech veteran and former Scottish football club owner, is making big waves in the blue-green economy. Last month, his company Green Rebel Marine spent €1.5m on a DA42 multi-purpose aircraft to conduct aerial surveys off the Irish coast. Green Rebel will be the only Irish company offering digital aerial surveys to offshore wind farm developers. Flynn has already spent €4m on the Athena, a 27.5-metre seabed surveying vessel acquired from the administrators of Bibby Hydromap, a unit of the Liverpool shipping and finance conglomerate.
