Mr Haworth travelled overland by bus from London to Athens and then flew to Kathmandu. In 1982 Mr Haworth started working for green political groups and met the environmentalist and writer Jonathon Porritt. Mr Haworth started campaigning for the UK Green party alongside Porritt. Mr Haworth said Mr Lawrence was his other great inspiration. Mr Haworth said he was not opposed to subdivisions or growth, just so long as it was not in rural areas.
