Delay In Securing Funds for Storm Drains Added to Mallam–Kasoa Flooding – Asenso-Boakye

Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, has said that the recent Mallam-Kasoa flooding happened largely because of the bureaucratic nature in securing funds to complete storm drains along the stretch. He said the situation could have been averted if funds were released to the ministry for the project. “People would have wished that this had been resolved many years ago but as you know, we need funds to do this storm drain and this is not the only storm drain challenge that we have in the city in the region, or in the country. According to Asenso-Boakye, the government's inability to secure funds for the project has been of major concern, as such, it is now looking at other alternatives to salvage the situation, while working on securing funds for the project. Commuters on the Mallam–Kasoa Road were left stranded after a heavy downpour around 4 pm on Monday, May 13.
