The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has proposed procuring 1,000 electric buses by 2019, as it tabled the Delhi budget 2018-19 in the Assembly on Thursday. Besides, the transport department will also procure 905 connecting electric feeder buses, to boost last mile connectivity in the Capital. “We will be the only nation besides China to have a fleet of 1,000 electric buses. Besides, in order to promote electric vehicles, the AAP government will come up with a comprehensive electric vehicles policy under which it aims to reduce BS-II, BS-III two-wheelers, taxis and commercial goods carriers with e-vehicles. Besides, 1,000 Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Cluster buses each will be added to the state-run fleet, said Sisodia.
