British company says new funding will be used to expand to new cities and countries and to open delivery-only kitchensDeliveroo has achieved a valuation of more than $2bn (£1.5bn) after the British takeaway food delivery firm raised $385m in new funds. In that funding round, the company raised $275m in a deal it said valued the business at about $1.1bn. Deliveroo currently operates in more than 150 cities across 12 countries and has about 30,000 riders on its books. The controversy around Deliveroo has centred on the employment status of its riders. A group of 20 British riders is seeking compensation in a similar employment tribunal case.
