Last September, the pan-African giant Sanlam, operating in almost 30 African countries, and the German powerhouse Allianz, boasting approximately $162bn in revenue in 2022, merged their operations on the continent. The result: a combined portfolio of $2.1bn, presence in 27 countries (excluding South Africa), and a strong ambition to become the leader in “insuring the uninsured” wherever possible.
