I don’t think that the Tony Awards are always the best judge of acting ability but FYI, Denzel Washington won a Tony for playing Troy in Fences and was nominated for a Tony for playing Hickey in The Iceman Cometh. Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Tony for Sea Wall/A Life.
