DepEd wants easier digital signature process

THE Department of Education (DepEd) has asked the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to allow the bulk processing of the application for digital signatures of 900,000 teachers who will serve in the elections next year. Acquiring a Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure digital signature is a new requirement of the Commission on Elections for teachers who will serve in the national elections in 2022. The digital signature is a virtual key that is used to secure files sent over an unsecured public network like the internet. In a letter, the Education department asked the DICT to make it easier for teachers to acquire their digital signatures by waiving the requirement to fill up individual application forms. However, DepEd is further requesting the waiving of the requirement for individual application forms as this may be cumbersome to check individually for errors," DepEd said in a statement.
