Desert Road blocked following serious crashSUPPLIED Emergency services work at the scene of the crash on the Desert Road. Two cars collided on the Desert Rd about 3pm, approximately 5km north of the Tree Trunk Gorge Road intersection, south of Turangi. Southbound road users can turn off at Rangipo and use SH 46, SH 47 to National Park. Northbound road users can turn off at Waiouru and use SH 49, SH 4, SH 47 and SH 46. The New Zealand Transport Agency says people should avoid travelling on Desert Road or allow extra time for their journey.
