'Devoted' grandparents and their dog travelling in Skoda are killed in crash with HGV - as man in his 30s is arrested


Tributes have been paid to a 'loving and generous' couple who were tragically killed in a car crash alongside their dog. Grandparents Christine and Stephen Routledge, of Berwick, Northumberland, were travelling together in their Skoda when it was involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Mrs Routledge, 66, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but later passed away. The couple's beloved dog, Bear, who was in the car at the time of the crash, also died from his injuries. Sergeant Dave Roberts, of Northumbria Police, said: 'Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Mr and Mrs Routledge at this devastating time.
