Poet Dionne Brand has been awarded a Los Angeles Times Book Award. The annual awards recognize the literary excellence of writers at all stages of their careers and were awarded on April 21. Brand won the poetry award for her book Nomenclature: New and Collected Poems, which was published in the United States by Duke University Press Books and in Canada by McClelland & Stewart.
