COVID-19 has undoubtedly impacted production schedules for Nintendo, as it has for literally every industry on Earth. But I’m still hoping that we get some more Mario in the fall. It’s not quite the same as new games, but just like with Pikmin 3, the possibility of these remasters speaks to Nintendo’s enviable position with the Nintendo Switch. So we’ll see: while Microsoft and Sony are releasing new hardware in the fall, they’re not releasing a ton of new games along with them. A big drop of Mario remasters could be just the thing to make sure the Switch gets its headlines alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X, and hopefully that’s what we’ll get.
