The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the nomination of Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh in an 11-to-10 vote along party lines, but Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) joined Democrats to demand a brief FBI investigation before the full Senate holds its vote. The Senate Judiciary Committee held an eight-hour hearing Thursday about the allegations of Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her. Before Flake made his demand public, Senate leadership expected to hold procedural votes on Saturday and Monday and a final full Senate vote on Tuesday. All eyes are on a trio of moderate Republicans and several of the 10 Senate Democrats who are up for reelection in states President Trump won in 2016.
